Unit Specific Uniform Guide

The First Allied Airborne Association prides itself on authenticity and the diversity of WWII campaign scenarios they can provide at events.

In many cases the displays have been award wining and have achieved great acclaim by the Airborne veterans that they portray.

The impression being achieved is always closely scrutinised from within to ensure the greatest degree of accuracy possible within the constraints of the living history hobby.  At all times the group are conscious of the “Hollywood” direction that some other groups tend to move towards, and make every effort to avoid taking that route!

The following sections are a step-by-step guide to the dress regulations required for each unit impression that the FAAA undertakes.  The basics have already been covered and have hopefully given the new recruit and the transferee a guide on what to source to enable them to take part in the basic unit displays.

Each separate uniform and equipment regulations is a guide to what is required to be able to represent the unit within a particular campaign impression or scenario.  At many events several impressions are undertaken within a single group display, which sometimes includes a British impression.

Group members do not have to be able to adapt to all scenarios when providing multiple displays but the variety of display subjects undertaken gives the true collector within the FAAA an opportunity to source and collect the wide variety of uniform and equipment available to the WWII American Airborne Soldier.

The uniform guides are listed in order of importance, via the links to the left, starting with the units that are re-enacted as a single unit by all members of the  Association – i.e. 101st Abn, Normandy, Holland and the Bulge, 17th Abn, Operation Varsity.

It will be seen that the uniform and equipment listed in the basic uniform & equipment regulations is sufficient to enable new members of the Association to operate within “single unit” displays.

All members of FAAA are encouraged and assisted, in the fullness of time, in obtaining the correct uniform and equipment to participate in all aspects of the Associations displays.
